Paul-Tech is a family-owned company born out of three generations of scientific research, bringing soil data into practical use. Founded in 2019, the platform helps farmers and agronomists understand soil processes in real time and make more precise decisions in everyday farming.
Our field stations collect data on soil water, temperature, and nutrient dynamics and translate it into clear, actionable indicators. This improves fertiliser use efficiency and provides deeper insight into what is really happening in the soil.

How Paul-Tech was founded
The story of Paul-Tech began with electronics engineer Paul Plakk, who carried out the first scientific studies to better understand soil and the processes taking place within it. His work was continued and further developed by his son Tiit Plakk, who took the research to a new level and helped transform scientific knowledge into practical solutions.
The breakthrough moment came when Tiit’s son, Mikk Plakk, now CEO of Paul-Tech, together with his wife Eve, who has a background in agriculture, saw the opportunity to apply this scientific knowledge more broadly in everyday farming. Eve’s hands-on experience and understanding of the daily challenges faced by farmers played a key role in shaping complex science into something clear, practical, and truly useful for farmers.
This is how the Paul-Tech platform was born in 2019 – a solution that brings together science, data, and practical agriculture. Today, Paul-Tech’s soil sensors enable continuous monitoring of soil water, temperature, and nutrient dynamics, providing clear insight into whether and when plants are able to use the water and nutrients available in the soil.
